2023 W Eagle $100 Platinum 1oz Eagle NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo Advanced Release

American Platinum Eagles debuted in 1997 with 1 oz and three fractional-ounce options in both the BU and Proof collections. In 2009, all BU coins were suspended and the fractional-ounce Proof coins were canceled. Since that time, the 1 oz Proof Platinum Eagle has remained in production.

Proof Platinum Eagles use new designs on one side of the coin each year and often go through design mini-series. The current design series is the First Amendment Series highlighting the five central tenets of the First Amendment: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Press, Right to Peaceful Assembly, and Right to Petition.

In the obverse design of 2023-W 1 oz Proof Platinum Eagles, the mint features acorns growing on a mature oak tree. This symbolizes the fruit of Liberty that is borne by freedom of the press. The First Amendment safeguards the freedom of the press, allowing journalists and media outlets to report news and information without government interference or censorship.
